Starting over again

Rough weekend for me nutrition wise.  I have pretty much eaten everything in sight and at this family gathering there was lots to be seen.  Needing to start fresh tomorrow.  Kim, sounds like I am not the only one.  Happy Memorial Day.  I will be back on my fitnesspal tomorrow but today it is too bad to report.  Hope you all had a nice weekend, mine was wonderful.

Help

I ran to Logan last night and came home this afternoon to hang out with my mom.  She is doing well just lonely and bored.  Too much time in the car and too many snackies.  I ate crap and now that is what I feel like.  I could not post on myfitness because I was embarrassed by the 4000 calorie intake.  I let the lack of weight loss last week get me down, dumb dumb.  Heather, we will do better tomorrow.  Way to go the rest of you.  Miss you Ilene.

Better

Still in shock about Ilene leaving us.  Come back anytime and please join for the bike rides.  I believe that today's root canal was on the right tooth and that it actually may have fixed the problem.  Yippee.  Between two root canals I was not running any races today but maybe tomorrow.  I still can't chew or eat cold or hot things but feel a big improvement.  Liking the fitnesspal thing.  Hope you find time to join us soon Heather.

Dear ladies. I had a fantastic time in Seattle. I walked at least 20 miles over 4 days. Plenty to see and do. It looks like you are all doing well. Cherie - the wrong tooth - really!!! Way to go on your races. Good times. I'm wishing you all the very best in the HLC. I am bowing out. Friday and Saturday

For some reason my computer wouldn't even open the blog last night, but it's working just fine today, so who knows?  Anyway, how's everyone doing?? I know Cherie's in Logan, Ilene may still be in Seattle, but I think the rest of us are around.

This new program is really working for me!  I hit a new low in my weight yesterday-yahoo.  Today Heather and I ran a 5K with Elise, Courtni, and Caprice.  We were saying we hoped to do it under 30 minutes, but I didn't think I'd really be able to do it!  Well, Heather did it in 26 minutes (I forgot the seconds), and I was 30 seconds under 30 minutes--exciting!

I learned a good lesson yesterday that I thought I'd pass along, and that is to keep a healthy snack in your car at all times.  I had a bunch of places to go after school yesterday, but I didn't think it would take me as long as it did.  By 6 o'clock I was quite hungry because I hadn't eaten since 11.  I had a bag of candy I had bought for the piano students, and  . . . .you know the rest of the story.  If I had had something in my car that was healthy, I really think I would have chosen that.  So I'm going to come up with some kind of emergency snack to keep in the glove compartment.

Thursday

It's fun seeing everyone on MyFitness Pal!  It has really helped me.  The only thing I wonder about is when I put in that I did 90 minutes of "Gardening, general" it gave me over 400 calories!  I didn't work that hard.  Don't worry, I didn't eat those calories.

I hope you're all doing well.  Have a good trip to Logan, Cherie!  Heather and I are running a 5K on Saturday morning.  What are you up to Lisa?  And I think Ilene may be travelling back.

Changes!

When I published that last post, I saw this in the draft folder, so not all is lost.  

Here are the changes we made to our program.  We'll all weigh on Wednesday morning, May 16th.  Text the weight to Cherie, Kim, Lisa, and Heather. (Ilene, I know you're not here right now.  Join in when you come back!)  Weigh yourself each Wednesday morning and text the amount to everyone.  I'll put the new weight on the chart and send out everyone's percentages. (I just added this today :) ).  In 4 weeks we will meet again.    Each person will receive $10 for every percentage lost!  Whoever wants to will post everything they eat each day on MyFitnessPal.  Does that about cover it?

What happened???

Last night after our meeting I wrote a pretty long blog summarizing our new plan, and now I see it has disappeared!  Or maybe it never actually appeared.  I pushed Publish as I ran out the door--I guess it didn't work.  Oh well!

So far, so good.  This posting what I eat really makes me think twice about what I put in my mouth.  It will be interesting to see how this all works out, although I'm expecting great success from all of us!

Some New Ideas

Hi everyone-
I've been wondering if we want to make some changes to our reward/incentive system.  These are just thoughts-so no problem if you don't want to make any changes!!

Elise is in a Biggest Loser group, and they're doing some things we may be interested in.  For one thing, the "winner" is whoever loses the highest percentage of their weight in a given time. Right now we're keeping track of how many days we stick to our goal, but sometimes I wonder if that backfires. For example, when I mess up one time at the beginning of the month, I know someone else is going to make it 100% so then I just give up.  If we were judging by weight loss, there would be an incentive to do really well after a mess-up and possibly undo the damage.  Another thing they do is post what they eat daily on MyFitnessPal.  Elise feels like this helps because who wants to post that they ate 10 cookies?  People comment on it --like "good job." etc  I'm not sure if I want to do that, but I thought I'd throw it out!  They report their loss to the group each week, but then there's a final winner at the end.  This group she's in has about 30 people (it's national) and they each paid $30 so the big winner gets $700!  The 2nd and 3rd place get something too. I'm not suggesting we do it to that extreme--or maybe we don't even want to include money!  I've been trying to think of some other motivator, but I don't have any ideas on that at the moment!

I'm not sure what to say about the 100 day challenge!  We did learn that Ilene is a very nice person--she gave up $400.  You're the awesome one, Ilene.  Is it something anyone wants to do?  I know it worked well the first time for me, but then after that I think the novelty was lost.  One part of me says, "If you really want to lose weight, why wouldn't you commit to 100 days?"  But then another part says, "Do I really have to be so stringent with myself?"  I realize this isn't something we all have to do, but I am interested in what everyone else sees as the good and bad points of this idea.

I've also wondered if we should have some non-diet goals.  I'm thinking something like scripture study, service, cleaning the house . . .whatever you consider to be a challenge.  I know this could be personal, so maybe we wouldn't actually tell everyone what our goal is.  It could just be called the personal goal.  I don't know--maybe that's making things too complicated.  I just know for me, even though I do want to reach my weight goal REALLY BAD!!!, I feel like I often put too much thought and energy into it and maybe I need to be thinking about other issues.  But, maybe that's something we should just work on on our own.  What do you think?

We're up to $285 in our Fun Fund!  Should we go out to lunch or dinner sometime?

Because I did NOT meet my goals!! I'm doing a new program starting Monday so I figured I'd enjoy some sugar and carbs this weekend and start anew then. I'm not exactly sure why, when I was close to the end, but alas I did. All is well and I'm going to be one strong hot mama come August.
