The end of June--the beginning of July!

We had a great hike today--beautiful scenery, fun companionship . . .plus we each burned close to 2000 calories!!

A few things to decide--First, what to do with our money?? I gave Cherie $30. for her 3+% loss.  We decided no one needs to pay $10.  That leaves us $280.  One idea is to keep doing the percentage lost challenge and pay whoever earns it at the end of each month until the money runs out.  (At this rate, that could be a long time!  jk)  Or, we could go out to lunch and use the money to pay for everyone and then keep doing the challenge with the rest of the money.  Or, we could use the money for lunch and other activities until it runs out and forget about the weight loss rewards.  I'd vote to use the money to reward weight loss and to pay for our own lunches when we go out---but of course I totally support whatever the majority thinks. 

Speaking of lunch--we need to plan a date to ride our bikes and meet for lunch!  How does Wed, August 1st sound? (Is that when you're going to be gone, Heather?  Sorry, I can't keep everyone's plans straight!  If that's a bad day for you, could you suggest another?)

About the blog--what do you think?  Do you think it makes a difference checking in every day?  Can you think of anything else we can do to give the HLC a shot in the arm?  I feel like we're on the cusp of success--let's not quit now!

Summer is Here!

I hope you're all having an enjoyable summer!  I don't necessarily love being hot, but at least it finally feels like summer!

I found out just tonight that Greg's work has something Wed. afternoon that I'm supposed to go to.  I don't think I'll be home until about 6, and then I was planning to go to Pack Meeting at 6:30 to see Thomas get his Arrow of Light, so a Wed. meeting is out for me.  What do you think about Tues or Thurs?  Sorry this is such late notice.  Another possibility is to just meet over email.  I can pay whoever earned money and we can just decide how long we want to go this next time.  I think 4, 5 or 6 weeks is good.

I'm doing pretty well. No drastic weight loss, but I still have hope!!

Not looking forward to weigh in tomorrow.  Too much junk food this week, birthday, company, Father's Day etc.  Excuses, excuses.  One week left to get that percentage body weight down.  Did well today and will do well tomorrow.  Fun bike ride today, Kim.  We missed you Heather, hope you are feeling better.  Good luck, push hard till the 27th.

Whats up?

I counted calories today and did not go over but I feel heavy and yucky.  Should have weighed in today because I think tomorrow will be bad.  Heather's voice in my head saying "I don't quit when I am tired, I stop when I am finished."  I will repeat that tomorrow on the scale.  Good luck with Wednesday weigh in.

Hikes

So excited about the new hike schedule.  The last one was such fun.  Good day today.  I love myfitnesspal it really makes me want to exercise and also to watch what I put in my mouth as I know I have to see the calories.  I stay under my calories but always go over on the fat.  Not sure what that means, I guess I need to rethink my food choices.  Good weather coming this week great for outdoor fun and games.

rough

I had two rough days after doing so well.  Moving kids and eating all the junk food that showed up in the hub bub of moving.  Yuck.  Still don't know why I do this.  I felt so good on Thursday.  Starting over tomorrow.  We have been talking about hiking.  Since it is mostly Kim, Heather and me let's talk tomorrow at church and decide what to do.

Hikes

Hey all.   Congratulations on the better report for our Wednesday chart and percentages.  By the 27th we will all be making some $ to buy new clothes.  I was checking my calendar and the blog and noticed that Union falls is scheduled for hiking before Devil's Staircase.  Not sure if that is a switch but I would suggest we trade the two so that we get one more warm up hike in before Union (an 18 miler) and also give the river water more chance to go down a bit before we cross is 6 times.  I suggest we hike Devil's on June 29th and Union on July 13th unless there was a reason to change it.  Let me know what you think.  Keep up the good work.

How to burn LOTS of calories

We had a great hike today to lower and upper Palisades. Not only was it fun, but we discovered that we burned around 3000 calories on that hike! Great scenery, great weather, great friends . . . an all around good day. Mark your calendars for our next hike to Union Falls on June 29th. I'm doing well--5th day of meeting my goals and also no sweets. It really makes a difference in how I feel! I'm glad everyone else is doing well too. One other thing I wanted to mention--I've been thinking lately about how I don't like my upper legs. Most of my excess weight seems to gather between my waist and knees. I was actually thinking about that on the hike when I ran (not literally) into a man who was hiking with an artificial leg. It made me very grateful that I have two legs that work well--even if they're not exactly the shape I'd like :) We're all very blessed to be so healthy and have all of our parts! (at least the important ones)
